Given that a pair of boots could cost £180 - a waterproof jacket - £150 - ditto trousers £60 - I was wondering how much other readers of this forum would be willing to pay for their items of clothing, boots and/or accessories.
I`ve made a little list of some of the most popular items (below). Opposite each item I have indicated the price range that I would be willing to pay for that item - ie £10 - £15.
Question is - how much of Your hard earned cash would You part with? How much are You prepared to pay these items?
Walking Boots £70 - £80
Waterproof Jacket £50 - £60
Walking Pole/s £00 - £00
Hat £05 - £10
Trousers £25 - £35
Feel free to add to the list. In time maybe we can work out the average price that people would be willing to pay for any particular item. |

Hi,
Not sure that I am the best person to add to the list but here it is.
Walking boots £60 to whatever the cost I can safely walk in (Unfortunately I must have lightweight ones,)
The pair I can walk in cost £125
Jacket before my accident £50 - £60(because if the weather was that bad I wouldn’t be out in it.)
Now much much more (a must have item)
Poles £20 (again its a must have item just in case)
Hat £5
Trousers £25-35
Like I stated not much help ...............sorry |

Hi Mick, Very sorry to hear about your accident. You have helped btw; you`ve helped just by making a post ; might encourage some of the others to make a contribution. One or two on the memberlist, haven`t posted anything, have`nt even said hello! ahem! BIG HINT!
My values are on par with the OP - great minds think alike
Though, I`d like to add Socks to the list.
Max I would pay for a pair of socks is £10 - and then grudgingly!! In fact, think I`ll reduce that to £8 - that`s better!
Whilst on the subject of Socks - I got a really nice pair of walking socks from - wait for it! - of all places - Lidl, the discount supermarket. They were £2.49 the pair. Very comfortable they are too - padded Archilles protection, support zones in all the right places, reinforced toes and heels, non slip comfort band, etc. Bought them last Monday; should have bought two pair, maybe get another pair (or two) this Monday, if there`s any left!
Saw some very similar to these in my local outdoor shop. Ok! Otterburn Mills - similar in many respects - bar one - the price! These were £14. 99 a pair. Yep! not a typo - £14.99 a pair!
Someone`s making very big profits out of the walking fraternity!! |

Whilst on the subject of Lidl, they were selling waterproof trousers (lined) at £9.99 pair - ladies and gents. Some other outdoor products too, if memory recalls, compasses and such like. _________________ "Heatherland and Bentland and valleys rich with corn, God bring me to Northumberland, the land where I was born" W.W.Gibson |

Something I forgot:-
Rucksack £ 20.
But they are now called daysacks and a replacement just cost me £30
Mick now wanders off shaking his head from side to side wondering if a “day” instead of a “ruck” is worth a £10 |
